Covenant Presbyterian Church is thrilled to partner with the Office of Mission Integration at Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital to offer an incredible opportunity for worship and study on Sunday, January 26. Plan to join us - and bring a friend!
At 11:00 our worship service will be in the style of Taize. In the south of Burgundy, France lays a small village called Taizé. This village founded over seventy years ago by Brother Roger is home to a monastic community devoted to prayer and reconciliation. The community is made up of brothers from all the continents and major denominations who gather together three times a day, seven days a week, throughout the year to pray (whether there are 7000 young people present or only twenty).
This practice has led to a special meditative style of worship - perfect for our “Talk Too Much” sermon series. Meditative worship intentionally includes elements of silence, repetition, iconography and sung prayer. We are excited to welcome Mike Garrido, VP of Mission Integration and his team to lead us this Sunday.
Following worship, we will host a lunch and learn session around the topic of grief. Susan Kunihiro, MD is Assistant Professor of Palliative Medicine at Emory University and is on staff at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital as a hospice and palliative care doctor. Come hear more about her journey in these fields.
